Manhattan, KS – Freezing drizzle is expected to create hazardous travel conditions across northeast Kansas Friday afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
According to the NWS, light ice accumulation is likely, leaving sidewalks, bridges, and roads slippery. The advisory affects multiple cities, including Manhattan, Marysville, and Clay Center. Evening commuters are urged to drive cautiously and prepare for delays.
The freezing drizzle may also cause isolated power outages. Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather updates and dial 511 for the latest road conditions in their area.
The advisory highlights a significant risk for travelers during peak hours. “Drivers need to slow down and stay alert,” said NWS officials.
Winter preparedness measures, such as salting walkways and securing emergency kits, are recommended to reduce risks.
