Wichita, KS – A winter storm is bringing heavy snowfall to central Kansas, with up to 8 inches expected in some areas. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Warning for several counties, including Saline, Barton, McPherson, and Rice, remaining in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the NWS, light to moderate snow will continue overnight, with periods of heavy snowfall expected through early Wednesday. Total accumulations will range between 4 to 8 inches, making travel hazardous. The Wednesday morning commuteis expected to be especially difficult.
The impacted areas include Salina, Great Bend, Lyons, Sterling, McPherson, and Cottonwood Falls. Drivers are urged to use caution and keep an emergency kit with food, water, and a flashlight if travel is necessary.
