Wichita, KS – Light snow is expected to taper off in southeast Kansas by midday Friday, giving way to sunshine and calmer conditions. However, drivers should remain cautious during the morning commute as icy and slick roadways persist.
According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, snow accumulations overnight ranged from 1 to 2 inches in some areas. While the snow is expected to exit the region by late morning, lingering icy patches may cause hazards, particularly on untreated surfaces.
Looking ahead, another system may bring a mix of light rain and snow to northern Kansas on Saturday evening. Forecasters predict little to no snow accumulation, but those traveling should remain alert to rapidly changing conditions. Daytime highs on Saturday and Sunday will range from 35-40°F, with sunny skies expected to dominate most of Sunday and early next week.
Temperatures are forecast to drop on Monday, with highs near 25-32°F before warming back up to the mid-30s by Tuesday. Residents should prepare for potential travel delays this morning and stay updated on weather changes over the weekend.
