Wichita, KS – Travelers across Kansas should prepare for patchy dense fog and freezing temperatures early Monday, making roads slippery and reducing visibility to less than half a mile. The National Weather Service in Wichita warns of hazardous conditions, especially on elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses.

According to the National Weather Service, the fog will persist through 9 a.m., paired with temperatures hovering near 32°F. Motorists are urged to drive with caution, allow extra travel time, and avoid using high beams, which can worsen visibility. Fog lights, if equipped, are recommended.

By late morning, sunny skies will return, with temperatures rising to a high near 62°F. South winds will pick up, ranging from 6 to 16 mph, with gusts as strong as 29 mph in some areas. However, drivers and early commuters should remain vigilant during the morning hours, especially on highways like I-135 and US-54.

The week ahead looks mostly clear and sunny, offering a welcome reprieve for Kansas residents. Monday night will bring cooler conditions with lows near 32°F, followed by more sunshine on Tuesday and highs reaching the mid-50s. Northwesterly winds will dominate midweek, dropping temperatures to the low 40s on Wednesday.

By Thursday, clear and sunny skies will return, with highs approaching the upper 40s. Although the chilly mornings will persist, the afternoon warmth will gradually increase throughout the week.

Residents should remain aware of potential slick conditions in the early hours. Stay updated with local weather alerts and drive carefully in foggy conditions to ensure safe travels.
