Wichita, KS – Southeast Kansas residents can expect a mix of weather this week, with rollercoaster temperatures, breezy conditions, and slight rain chances. The National Weather Service reports two cold fronts will pass through the region, causing notable shifts in temperatures and wind gusts.

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday will begin with increasing clouds and highs reaching 54-60°F before showers move into southeast Kansas in the evening. Rain chances remain low at 20%, but winds from the southwest could gust as high as 22 mph.

Foggy conditions are anticipated overnight into Wednesday, particularly in southeast Kansas, with visibility dropping to a quarter of a mile in some areas. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, especially along major roadways, including I-135 and U.S. Route 54.

Wednesday brings colder temperatures, with highs only reaching 42-48°F and brisk northwest winds at 15-20 mph. Skies will remain sunny, offering a brief break before Thursday’s breezy conditions return, with highs in the mid-50s and lows falling to 20-26°F.

By Friday, temperatures drop further, with daytime highs ranging between 38-45°F. The region will stay dry, but residents should prepare for a cold start to the weekend, particularly during overnight hours.

The National Weather Service advises residents to dress in layers, secure outdoor objects before windy days, and monitor forecasts for updates. For motorists traveling early or late, dense fog and gusty winds could pose safety concerns.
