Dodge City, Kansas – Heavy rain continues across southwest Kansas, with the National Weather Service warning of additional rainfall amounts of up to 0.5 inches in certain areas through the early hours of Wednesday.

According to the latest update from the NWS, rainfall will remain steady across the region overnight, with the heaviest accumulations expected between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. The heaviest rainfall is likely to affect areas north of Dodge City, including locations near Scott City and extending to Ness City, Larned, and St. John. These areas could see rainfall totals between 0.25 and 0.5 inches during this time.

The rainfall, which is expected to average between 1/4 to 1/2 inch, may create localized ponding on roads, particularly in areas where rain has been most persistent. Drivers should exercise caution on area roadways, especially those near the heaviest rainfall bands, where slick conditions could develop.

This weather event is expected to last into the early morning hours, with a continued risk of localized flooding in low-lying areas. The NWS urges residents to remain cautious while traveling overnight.
