According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, central, south-central, and southeast Kansas can expect scattered rain beginning late Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with a higher chance of thunderstorms Thursday evening into the overnight hours—especially across southern counties like Sumner, Cowley, and Harper.
Today’s highs will climb into the mid-to-upper 70s across the region, with light rain arriving late tonight as temperatures dip into the upper 50s. Thursday begins with more light precipitation before skies briefly clear in the afternoon. By Thursday night, storm chances intensify across areas like Arkansas City and Wellington, with lows in the low to mid-60s.
Drivers should remain alert for slick road conditions early Friday, especially during morning commutes. While rainfall totals aren’t expected to be excessive, isolated thunderstorms could bring brief bursts of heavy rain and gusty winds.
