Wichita, KS – A cold front will leave Kansas residents bundling up as Thanksgiving Day brings sunny skies but cold temperatures. Highs near Wichita will reach 41 degrees Thursday, with wind chills making it feel even colder during morning hours.

According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected to taper off today as temperatures peak near 48 degrees. By evening, skies will clear, with lows dipping to 28 degrees overnight. Travelers and those preparing for Thanksgiving should dress warmly, as north-northwest winds will make outdoor conditions brisk.

Looking ahead, Friday will remain sunny but cool, with highs near 41 degrees. Winds are expected to calm, providing better conditions for Black Friday shoppers. Friday night temperatures will plummet to 24 degrees, reminding Kansans that winter is near.

The weekend offers a slight warm-up, with highs reaching 45 degrees Saturday and 50 degrees Sunday. Sunny skies will dominate both days, making it a favorable time for outdoor plans. Overnight lows will remain cold, dropping to 22 degrees Saturday night and 24 degrees Sunday night.

Roads, including I-35 and US-54, could be slippery in isolated areas this morning due to lingering rain. Officials urge drivers to exercise caution during Thanksgiving travel, especially in early hours when freezing wind chills pose risks for slick conditions.

Residents should monitor weather updates as the holiday week continues. Bundle up, enjoy Thanksgiving, and take advantage of improved conditions for weekend activities.
