Wichita, Kansas – A rapid temperature swing is underway across central Kansas, with mild conditions today quickly giving way to summerlike warmth that could push highs near 90°F by the end of the workweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, highs Tuesday will reach the upper 50s to upper 60s across the region, including around 59°F in Wichita, 62°F in Hutchinson, and near 69°F in Pratt. Skies remain partly cloudy, with light winds keeping conditions relatively calm.
The warming trend begins Wednesday, when temperatures climb into the low to upper 70s across cities like Wichita, Salina, and Emporia. By Thursday, highs are expected to jump further into the 80°F to 85°F range, signaling a sharp shift toward above-normal conditions.
The peak of the warm-up arrives Friday, when widespread highs between 84°F and 89°F are expected across central and southern Kansas. Areas along I-35 and U.S. 54 will see the most significant heat, especially during the afternoon hours.
Residents should prepare for cooler mornings transitioning to much warmer afternoons, stay hydrated, and plan outdoor activities accordingly as temperatures rise quickly.
The warm pattern is expected to hold into the weekend, with additional updates possible if temperatures trend even higher.
