Dodge City, KS – A cold front is set to bring snow and freezing temperatures to southwest Kansas early next week, potentially disrupting travel. The National Weather Service forecasts light snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches beginning Monday, particularly along U.S. Route 50. Residents are urged to drive cautiously and prepare for icy conditions.

According to the NWS Dodge City office, snowfall is likely between Monday morning and late afternoon, with the highest chances south of U.S. Route 50, extending toward Liberal and Medicine Lodge. Winds gusting up to 30 mph could further reduce visibility and create hazardous travel conditions.

Weekend Outlook:

Saturday will see slight chances of snow with highs near 25°F. Blustery winds will continue into the evening, pushing wind chills as low as -3°F overnight. Sunday is expected to bring sunny skies with a high of 23°F, offering a brief reprieve before the snow arrives Monday.

Extended Forecast:

Monday: Snow likely, high near 20°F, wind chills at -5°F.

Tuesday: Sunny but bitterly cold, high of 33°F.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, highs in the low 40s.

Prepare now by ensuring vehicles are winter-ready and allowing extra travel time Monday. For updated forecasts, visit the NWS Dodge City website or tune in to local weather reports.
