According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, storms may begin after 1 a.m. Tuesday, with scattered thunderstorms continuing through at least Thursday. Monday will start off mostly sunny and breezy, with highs reaching 86°F, but conditions will shift sharply overnight as moisture and instability increase.

Wichita, along with nearby cities like Derby and Newton, could see wind gusts over 25 mph and periods of heavy rain. Commuters along I-135 and K-96 should anticipate slick roads and reduced visibility early Tuesday. Sedgwick and surrounding counties remain under a marginal risk for strong storms, with isolated flooding in low-lying areas possible.

Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items, check flashlights and charge devices ahead of potential power outages. Minor travel delays and localized street flooding may occur through midweek.
