Looking ahead, the weather on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will remain unseasonably warm, with highs between 48 and 54 degrees. Both days will feature morning fog and cloudy skies, but widespread precipitation is unlikely. Travelers heading out for holiday gatherings should anticipate reduced visibility during the early hours but will benefit from dry road conditions throughout most of the region.
Later in the week, rain chances increase Thursday, with a 50 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms after midnight. Daytime highs will hover around 51 degrees, while lows dip into the low 40s. Patchy fog is expected to return during the overnight hours, potentially impacting Friday morning commutes.
