Wichita, KS – A weak cold front is sweeping through Kansas today, bringing seasonably cool conditions and sharp overnight temperature drops. Wichita residents can expect a high near 40 degrees Saturday before temperatures plummet to the low 20s overnight.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), tonight’s low of 23 degrees will combine with light north-northeast winds to create frosty conditions. Residents should bundle up and take precautions with exposed pipes and outdoor pets.
Sunday is expected to remain chilly, with morning clouds gradually clearing for a high near 35 degrees and light winds. However, temperatures will begin climbing Monday as sunny skies return, reaching highs of 46 to 52 degrees by midweek. Overnight lows will rise slightly, staying in the mid-20s to low 30s.
Drivers should take care on roads like I-135 and K-96 tonight as temperatures dip below freezing. While no precipitation is expected, frost could form on bridges and overpasses.
Looking ahead, the week will remain mostly dry, but a chance of rain and snow could develop Thursday into Friday. Highs will hover near 50 degrees Wednesday before dropping into the low 40s with the incoming storm system.
Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts for updates and prepare for fluctuating conditions throughout the week.
