Kansas City, MO – Temperatures across the Kansas City region are expected to rise well above normal through the weekend, with record highs possible Friday before a cooldown early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, highs will climb into the 70s and 80s through Saturday, significantly above seasonal averages for mid-March.

Forecast data shows Kansas City could reach the low 80s Friday, approaching the record high of 82 degrees set in 1953. Nearby cities including St. Joseph and Kirksville may also challenge daily records.

The warming trend is expected to continue into Saturday, with additional record highs possible across parts of northwest Missouri.

A cold front is forecast to move through the region on Sunday, bringing temperatures back closer to normal by Monday. Despite the frontal passage, conditions are expected to remain mostly dry through much of the period.

The National Weather Service indicates this pattern reflects a broader surge of warm air across the central United States, contributing to multiple record challenges.

The temperature swing may impact outdoor plans and travel, especially as residents adjust from unseasonable warmth to cooler conditions early next week.
