Kansas City, MO – Residents in Kansas City and surrounding areas are facing dangerously cold conditions as a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon Thursday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The advisory warns of wind chills dropping as low as -25 degrees Fahrenheit, which can cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. The extreme cold affects portions of eastern Kansas and central, north-central, northeast, and west-central Missouri.
According to the NWS, overnight temperatures will hit a low of -7°F, with wind chill values ranging between -14°F and -19°F. Thursday’s high will reach just 13°F, with continued frigid conditions. Warmer temperatures are expected over the weekend, with highs rising to the upper 30s and 40s by Sunday.
