Wichita, KS – Bitter Arctic air continues to grip Kansas, bringing dangerously cold wind chills as low as -25°F through Friday morning. Residents should take precautions, as frostbite can occur in under 30 minutes.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), an Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect until noon Thursday, with sub-zero wind chills continuing overnight. Thursday’s high will reach just 13°F, with wind chills staying near -13°F. By nightfall, temperatures will drop to 1°F, with wind chills between -10°F and -20°F.
Friday morning will start bitterly cold before a gradual warm-up. The afternoon high will reach 21°F under partly sunny skies. Friday night remains frigid, with lows near 11°F.
Warmer temperatures return this weekend. Saturday’s high will reach 38°F, with mostly sunny skies. Sunday warms to 50°F, offering a break from the bitter cold. Next week, highs could reach 60°F by Tuesday, signaling a shift toward milder conditions.
