Tallahassee, FL – A Flood Watch remains in effect for northern Florida and southern Georgia through late Sunday night and into Monday morning due to ongoing heavy rainfall. The National Weather Service warns that excessive runoff could lead to flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas, including urban locations with poor drainage.

According to the National Weather Service, between 1 and 3 inches of rain have already fallen across the region, with an additional 2 inches expected. Some areas could see localized totals of up to 4 inches, increasing the risk of flash flooding and river rises.

Affected areas in Florida include Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Panama City, and surrounding counties such as Leon, Bay, Wakulla, and Gadsden. In Georgia, regions including Valdosta, Thomasville, and Bainbridge are under the advisory.

Residents should remain vigilant and monitor local weather updates for potential Flood Warnings. Those in flood-prone areas should take precautions, such as securing outdoor belongings and preparing for possible evacuations. Motorists are urged to avoid driving through flooded roads, as water depths can be deceptive and dangerous.
