According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, skies will gradually break throughout the day, though most areas will stay mostly cloudy until evening. Highs across central and southern Mississippi, including Vicksburg, Natchez, and Hattiesburg, will range from 86°F to 87°F, adding to a warm, muggy setup for outdoor plans.
For those heading toward the coast this weekend, the weather takes on a more hazardous tone. The NWS Mobile/Pensacola office has issued high rip current risks beginning tonight for beaches in Alabama and the Florida Panhandle—including Dauphin Island, Gulf Shores, Pensacola Beach, and Destin. Those conditions are expected to last through at least Tuesday, making swimming dangerous for all skill levels.
Beachgoers are urged to swim near lifeguards and obey flag systems. If caught in a rip current, don’t fight it—swim parallel to shore and signal for help.
High rip current alerts remain in effect through early next week, with moderate improvement not expected until Wednesday.
