Jackson County, OR: Man Allegedly Met 13-Year-Old on Snapchat, Arrested for Sexual Abuse

Medford, OR – A Central Point man has been arrested after allegedly sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl he met through Snapchat, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).

Deputies say the incident occurred late Monday night, November 11, in the 6600 block of Hillcrest Road in Medford. Around 11:54 p.m., JCSO deputies and officers from the Medford Police Department responded to a report of a man abusing a minor inside a parked truck.

As authorities arrived, they located the suspect’s vehicle speeding away on McAndrews Road. The driver, identified as Juan Jose Ramos-Arguella, 22, of Central Point, was stopped and taken into custody without further incident.

Ramos-Arguella is charged with first-degree sexual abuse, driving under the influence of marijuana, and unlawful delivery of a marijuana item. He remains held at the Jackson County Jail.

Investigators later determined the suspect allegedly met the victim through Snapchat. JCSO detectives are continuing the investigation in coordination with the Oregon Department of Human Services, Child Welfare Division.

No further details have been released at this time as the case remains active.
