Motorists traveling on Interstate 57 in Iroquois County should expect lane closures starting Monday, March 17, at the Buckley interchange (exit 272). The closures will allow construction crews to complete work on the Iroquois County Highway 9 bridge over I-57.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the $4.1 million project involves replacing the bridge deck, resurfacing approaches, and upgrading lighting. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction, controlled by temporary signals. The project is expected to be completed by July. Drivers should anticipate delays and consider alternate routes.
