Davenport, IA – Residents of eastern Iowa should prepare for snow showers and gusty winds affecting travel through Saturday along Highway 20. The National Weather Service warns of slippery roads, reduced visibility, and sub-freezing temperatures creating hazardous conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, light snow is expected to spread across the region through early Friday morning, with accumulation likely under one inch. A strong cold front will keep temperatures in the 20s while northwesterly winds could reach up to 35 mph. This combination of snow and wind will make roads icy, especially during the morning commute.

Looking ahead, the weekend forecast remains chilly, with highs near 28 degrees on Saturday and mostly sunny skies providing some relief. Sunday will warm slightly, reaching 38 degrees, but road conditions could still be a concern in shaded or less-traveled areas.

By Monday, eastern Iowa will experience a high of 46 degrees, but nighttime lows in the teens and 20s suggest freezing conditions may linger. Travelers are urged to check road conditions before heading out and to carry emergency kits, including blankets and water, when driving in remote areas.
