Des Moines, IA – After several days of frigid conditions, Iowa is set to experience a warming trend heading into the weekend, with temperatures gradually moderating into next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Des Moines, temperatures tonight will still be cold, with lows ranging from 5°F to 8°F and wind chills as low as -10°F. However, southwest winds at 10-15 mph and mostly clear skies will signal the beginning of a shift towards warmer conditions.

By Saturday, highs will rise to between 30°F and 35°F under mostly clear skies. The trend continues Sunday, with temperatures reaching 38°F to 47°F, followed by a significant jump on Monday, when highs could range from 45°F to 55°F under partly cloudy skies.

The warming pattern is expected to persist through next week, bringing a prolonged period of above-normal temperatures. Residents are advised to prepare for fluctuating conditions as Iowa transitions out of extreme cold.
