According to the NWS in Des Moines, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect for cities including Des Moines, Ames, Waterloo, and Fort Dodge.
Frostbite can occur in as little as 10 minutes, making it critical to wear layers, cover exposed skin, and limit outdoor time. Wind chills will gradually improve after sunrise but remain frigid throughout the morning.
