Quad Cities, IA – Travelers preparing to hit the road for Thanksgiving should expect snow, rain, and freezing temperatures impacting key routes like I-80. Today’s forecast calls for light snow in the region, while conditions turn colder heading into Thanksgiving Day.

According to the National Weather Service, highs today will reach the low 40s, but snowfall across portions of Iowa and Illinois may cause slippery conditions. Tonight, temperatures are expected to dip to 25 degrees, with light winds that could create isolated icy patches on bridges and overpasses.

Thanksgiving Day will see mostly sunny skies but a high of only 35 degrees, with northwesterly winds making it feel even colder. Travelers are urged to check road conditions before setting out and plan for potential delays. Rain and snow remain possible for areas further north, particularly along I-90, through Thursday night.

Looking ahead, Friday will bring colder weather, with highs near 26 and nighttime temperatures dropping to 13 degrees. Sunny skies return through Saturday, but temperatures will remain below freezing. Sunday offers similar conditions, with highs reaching the mid-20s.

For those traveling across the Midwest, prepare for fluctuating conditions. Carry an emergency kit, check tire pressure, and stay updated via weather.gov for real-time updates.

Be sure to bundle up and allow extra travel time as you head to holiday gatherings this week.
