Iowa Storm Update: EF-0 Tornado Touched Down in Muscatine & Cedar Counties

Wilton, IA – The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed that an EF-0 tornado touched down near Wilton, Iowa, on Friday, March 14, 2025. The tornado, which affected Muscatine and Cedar counties, had estimated peak winds of 85 mph.

According to the NWS Quad Cities office, the tornado formed at approximately 8:49 p.m. CDT and lasted until 8:51 p.m. CDT. It traveled a path of 1.9 miles with a maximum width of 50 yards. Fortunately, no injuries or deaths were reported.

The storm caused minor damage, including roof damage to some buildings, tree damage, and the overturning of an empty grain bin. Officials noted that the tornado was fast-moving and relatively weak, consistent with an EF-0 rating on the Enhanced Fujita scale.

The NWS continues to assess storm data and reminds residents to stay prepared during severe weather season. Although this tornado had limited impact, officials emphasize the importance of staying informed through weather alerts and having an emergency plan in place.
