Des Moines, IA – A breezy Saturday will bring sunshine during the day, but the weather takes a turn with rain and thunderstorms overnight into Sunday. Winds will pick up significantly, with gusts reaching up to 30 mph, making for a blustery weekend across central Iowa.

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday’s high will reach 59°F under mostly sunny skies. However, clouds will move in by late evening, with a chance of rain developing between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. A few thunderstorms are possible after 4 a.m., especially in the Des Moines metro and surrounding areas.

Sunday will see morning rain chances taper off, leading to partly sunny skies with highs near 58°F. Winds will remain gusty, especially in the afternoon, creating a brisk but dry end to the weekend.

Looking ahead, Monday will be sunny with a high of 57°F, offering a brief break from unsettled weather. By Monday night, another system moves in, bringing a 30% chance of rain. Tuesday and Wednesday will be partly to mostly sunny, with highs in the mid-to-upper 60s, signaling a warmer trend into midweek.

Residents should secure outdoor items before Saturday night’s winds pick up and remain cautious of rapidly changing conditions. Storms may bring isolated heavier rainfall, so those traveling should check local road conditions before heading out.
