Omaha, NE – A powerful winter storm is expected to hit portions of Nebraska and western Iowa from Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning, bringing snow, high winds, and potential power outages.

According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, a Winter Storm Watch has been issued for areas including Omaha, Lincoln, and Council Bluffs. Snowfall totals of one to three inches are possible, with wind gusts reaching 60 to 65 mph. In northeast Nebraska, including Norfolk and Columbus, similar conditions are expected Tuesday afternoon through late Tuesday night.

Blizzard conditions may develop, with visibility dropping below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. The storm could cause hazardous travel conditions during the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes, with drifting snow making roads treacherous.

Officials warn of possible scattered power outages due to strong winds and ice accumulation. Residents are advised to prepare by securing outdoor objects, keeping emergency supplies on hand, and checking road conditions before traveling.

The storm is expected to clear by late Wednesday morning. Stay updated with the latest forecasts and alerts from the National Weather Service.
