Omaha, NE – Dangerous cold will persist across Nebraska and Iowa through midweek, with wind chills plunging as low as -33°F. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an Extreme Cold Warninguntil noon Tuesday, followed by an Extreme Cold Watch through Thursday morning.

According to the NWS, overnight lows will hover near -11°F, while wind chills will make it feel much colder. By Wednesday, temperatures will struggle to rise above single digits, with a high of 6°F expected. Residents should take precautions to avoid frostbite, which can occur in just 15 minutes in these conditions.

Drivers should be cautious as slick roads and patchy snow could create hazardous travel conditions. The worst cold will ease by Friday when highs reach the upper teens, followed by a warming trend this weekend.

Residents are advised to dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and limit time outdoors. Stay updated on local conditions and prepare for dangerous cold through Thursday.
