Davenport, Iowa – Scattered thunderstorms could disrupt plans across the Quad Cities late Sunday, with downpours and gusty winds posing hazards on roads like US-61. A Marginal Risk for severe weather is in effect, meaning isolated damaging winds and flash flooding could hit by nightfall.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, storms are most likely between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. Sunday. New rainfall could top a half inch in some areas, with stronger cells producing brief torrential downpours. While widespread severe weather isn’t expected, localized flooding is possible in poor drainage zones, especially along urban roadways.

Rock Island, Bettendorf, and Davenport should prepare for reduced visibility and slick streets during Sunday evening travel. Residents are urged to monitor alerts and avoid water-covered roads. Keep cellphones charged and bring in any loose outdoor items that could blow around in high winds.

Storms may linger into early Monday before giving way to drier and sunnier weather. While Monday looks calm, more thunderstorms could return midweek.
