Davenport, Iowa – Drivers across the Quad Cities region could face dangerous travel conditions early Wednesday due to dense fog settling in south and east of the metro area.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m. CDT for parts of eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois. Visibility in some low-lying areas may drop to a quarter mile or less, particularly near rivers and waterways.

The advisory includes key travel routes such as Interstate 80, U.S. Highway 61, and state routes near Muscatine, Aledo, and Geneseo. Law enforcement and emergency management officials urge motorists to allow extra travel time, reduce speed, and use low-beam headlights.

This is the first widespread fog advisory for the region in June, caused by humid overnight air mixing with cooling valley temperatures. Similar conditions may occur again later this week if current patterns persist.

Drivers are urged to stay weather-aware this morning. The fog is expected to lift by mid-morning, but further advisories could be issued if visibility remains limited.
