Quad Cities, IL – Frigid temperatures are sweeping across Illinois as wind chills are expected to drop to dangerous levels tonight. A weak storm system may also bring light snow south of Highway 30.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, temperatures tonight will range between 0 and 12 degrees Fahrenheit. Wind chills could fall as low as -18 in some areas, creating hazardous conditions. Light snow is possible late tonight with minimal accumulation of less than an inch. The snow will taper off by early Tuesday morning.

Tuesday will remain bitterly cold, with highs reaching only 14 to 19 degrees. Breezy conditions will persist, making it feel colder throughout the day. By Wednesday, temperatures are expected to improve slightly, with highs climbing into the low to mid-20s.

The National Weather Service advises residents to limit time outdoors tonight and tomorrow morning. Frostbite can occur in minutes when wind chills drop this low. If traveling, drivers should carry emergency supplies and remain cautious on icy roads.

Temperatures will gradually rise as the week progresses, peaking in the 40s by Friday. Until then, Illinois residents should prepare for freezing conditions and stay updated on forecasts.
