Marengo, Iowa – Rising river levels are triggering a flood watch for parts of eastern Iowa, with flooding possible along the Iowa and Wapsipinicon Rivers from Monday evening through the week. Residents in Marengo, De Witt, and surrounding counties could face inundated farmland, affected homes, and road hazards as river stages approach flood thresholds.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, the Iowa River at Marengo is projected to reach flood stage—15.0 feet—by Monday night. At last report, the river measured 11.3 feet. The Wapsipinicon River near De Witt is also expected to exceed its 11.0-foot flood stage early Tuesday morning, threatening homes along old U.S. Highway 61 in Clinton and Scott Counties.

Local emergency agencies urge residents in Iowa, Benton, Clinton, and Scott counties to stay alert for changing water conditions and possible evacuations. Water could reach several feet deep in low-lying agricultural areas and neighborhoods. Motorists should avoid driving on flooded roads and plan alternate routes as needed.

Residents should secure belongings, charge devices, and prepare for potential power outages or evacuation notices. Updates and additional information are available at weather.gov/quadcities.

Flood watches remain in effect until further notice, with the next update expected Saturday at 11:15 a.m.
