Davenport, IA – Bitter cold continues across Iowa as another frigid night sets in, with wind chills dropping as low as -20°F. A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect through Wednesday morning, urging residents to take precautions against dangerous conditions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS)wind chills could cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes on exposed skin. Temperatures will remain below zero overnight, with only a slight warm-up expected midweek. Wednesday’s high will reach 9°F, but wind chills will keep it feeling much colder.

Looking ahead, Thursday brings some relief, with sunny skies and a high near 15°F. By the weekend, a warming trend will push temperatures into the 30s, with Sunday reaching 41°F. Despite the improving outlook, officials urge residents to limit outdoor exposure, dress in layers, and ensure pets have warm shelter.

Motorists should prepare for slick conditions and keep an emergency kit in their vehicles as extreme cold increases the risk of stalled cars.
