San Bernardino, CA – The Inland Empire is facing dangerous heat as a heat advisory remains in effect from 10 a.m. Friday through 9 p.m. Saturday. Highs in the San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys are expected to reach between 96°F and 104°F, well above the average for early May.

According to the National Weather Service, the extreme heat could pose health risks, particularly for those spending extended time outdoors. The most intense heat will likely occur in the afternoons, with temperatures 15 to 20 degrees above normal for this time of year.

Residents in affected areas, including Moreno Valley, Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside, and Ontario, are urged to take precautions. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can lead to heat-related illnesses, especially in vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions.

Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids, avoid direct sun exposure, and stay in air-conditioned spaces whenever possible. It’s also advised to check on neighbors and relatives, especially those who may be more susceptible to heat stress.

The heat advisory is set to end by 9 p.m. Saturday, but additional updates or warnings may follow if conditions worsen.
