Fort Wayne, IN – Drivers across Northern Indiana are advised to prepare for hazardous travel conditions on Wednesday as lake-effect snow is expected to create slick roads and reduce visibility. The snow will primarily impact regions along I-94, with conditions worsening before the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service, a snow band moving south-southeast could produce visibility as low as 1/4 mile in heavy bursts. Accumulations of up to an inch are forecasted for areas near South Bend and Berrien County by early Wednesday morning. Roads are likely to become snow-covered and icy, especially in shaded areas.

Temperatures will remain in the low 20s overnight Tuesday, climbing only to 33°F by Wednesday afternoon. A mix of rain and snow showers is expected to begin by midafternoon, with gusty winds reaching 35 mph. Commuters are urged to delay nonessential travel until conditions improve.

Looking ahead, Thursday brings a slight chance of flurries, with highs around 27°F. Friday promises clearer skies and sunshine, though nighttime lows will drop to a frigid 17°F. By Saturday, snow showers may return, particularly in the afternoon, as highs hover near 37°F.

Motorists should keep emergency supplies in their vehicles and check updated forecasts before hitting the roads. Travelers on I-94 should exercise extra caution and leave plenty of stopping distance.
