Indianapolis, IN – Central Indiana will experience periods of light snow overnight along and northeast of I-74, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures are set to rise slightly, bringing relief from the bitter cold.

The NWS reported that clouds and southwesterly breezes will help raise overnight lows into the 20s. However, wind chills may still hover in the teens by dawn Thursday. Light snow showers could cause minor travel disruptions after midnight through early Thursday morning, particularly northeast of Indianapolis.

Road conditions could become slippery in areas affected by snowfall. Visibility may also drop in localized bursts of moderate snow, especially near the I-74 corridor. Drivers are urged to exercise caution during the morning commute.

This evening, wind chills are expected to stay near zero before gradually improving overnight. While the system isn’t as severe as earlier winter conditions, the NWS cautioned against complacency. Temperatures in Indianapolis and surrounding areas will rise, but wind chills could still make conditions feel colder.

The warming trend into Thursday provides some reprieve, with highs expected in the 30s by afternoon. Snow showers should taper off by mid-morning, allowing for improving conditions as the day progresses.

Residents should monitor local weather updates for any changes in forecast conditions. Stay prepared for potential delays, and dress appropriately to combat lingering cold temperatures.
