Indianapolis, IN – Central Indiana is preparing for widespread rain late Monday night into Tuesday, with snow possible later this week. The National Weather Service warns of up to 0.75 inches of rainfall, especially north of I-70, creating potential travel concerns.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will expand across the region Monday night, becoming widespread Tuesday. Gusty winds reaching 24 mph are expected during the rain, with temperatures dropping to 35 degrees by Tuesday night. Roads may become slippery, especially on elevated surfaces. Residents should drive cautiously and allow extra time for commutes.

By New Year’s Day, temperatures will fall further, increasing the chance of snow. Forecasters predict mostly cloudy skies with highs in the mid-30s Wednesday, followed by a stronger chance of snow Thursday evening. Winds will pick up again, creating conditions that could affect travel.

The week concludes with colder air settling over Indiana. Friday’s high is forecasted at 30 degrees, with lows dipping into the teens overnight. The weekend may bring additional snowfall, with a 30% chance Saturday and 50% Sunday.

Prepare for varying conditions this week by ensuring vehicles are winter-ready and outdoor activities are planned around weather changes. Monitor local forecasts for updates.
