Fort Wayne, IN – Northern Indiana faces a renewed bout of snow showers today, with accumulation intensifying during the late morning and afternoon hours. Commuters are advised to prepare for slick and hazardous road conditions, particularly along the US 20 corridor and nearby toll roads.

According to the US National Weather Service Northern Indiana, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through 7 p.m. EST Thursday. Widespread snowfall will redevelop after sunrise and could impact visibility and traction for evening travel. Drivers should exercise caution on untreated roads and prepare for slower commutes.

By midday, areas such as South Bend and Fort Wayne may see accumulations between 1 to 3 inches, with higher totals near Lake Michigan. Inland areas can expect snow showers to taper off by evening, but icy spots will linger overnight as temperatures dip to a low of 14°F.

Looking ahead, Friday will bring dry but cold conditions, with a high near 20°F. Saturday and Sunday are forecast to be mostly cloudy with temperatures climbing into the 30s, providing a brief reprieve from the snow.

Residents are urged to stay informed about local road conditions and avoid unnecessary travel during peak snowfall. Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle and allow extra time to reach destinations.
