Fort Wayne, Indiana – Warm air and hazy skies are moving into Northern Indiana Monday, with sunshine prevailing across most of the region but temperatures climbing into the low 80s by afternoon.
According to the US National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, Canadian wildfire smoke aloft may cause hazy skies throughout the day, especially inland. Temperatures are expected to range from 75°F near Lake Michigan to 83°F farther south, with overnight lows between 54°F and 61°F.
Cities like South Bend, Fort Wayne, and Elkhart will see abundant sunshine with only slight haze—more noticeable during sunrise and sunset. Coastal towns along Lake Michigan, including Michigan City and La Porte, will stay slightly cooler thanks to lake breezes.
While air quality is not expected to reach hazardous levels, sensitive groups—such as those with asthma—should monitor for any signs of irritation. Outdoor workers and travelers are encouraged to stay hydrated and take breaks in shaded areas as summer-like warmth settles in.
This warm, dry pattern is expected to continue through midweek, with no major weather systems on the horizon.
