Indianapolis, Ind. – Drivers across central and northern Indiana could face brief but gusty thunderstorms through Monday evening, particularly in areas north of Interstate 70.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis and Northern Indiana, isolated to widely scattered storms will develop through early evening, with the strongest cells potentially producing wind gusts over 40 mph and small hail. While severe weather is not expected, lightning remains a hazard across affected counties, including Tippecanoe, Allen, Howard, and Fulton.
Communities such as Lafayette, Kokomo, Fort Wayne, and Huntington may see quick bursts of rain and wind. Officials urge residents to seek shelter if thunder is heard and to secure outdoor items that could be tossed by sudden gusts.
No watches or warnings are currently in effect, and spotter activation is not anticipated. However, weather officials advise staying weather-aware as the threat of thunderstorms returns Friday and lingers into the weekend.
Warnings remain possible later this week as more organized storm activity develops. Check back for updated advisories.
