Indianapolis, Ind. – Much of Indiana will enjoy a mild and partly cloudy Wednesday, but don’t put away the umbrella just yet — isolated showers could develop this evening as temperatures climb into the mid-70s.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, today’s highs will range from 72°F to 77°F across central and southern Indiana. While the day remains mostly dry, rain chances increase after sunset, with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms likely to move in by early Thursday.

The greatest impacts are expected Thursday, particularly along the I-70 corridor and into eastern Indiana, where storms may bring locally heavy rain and brief gusty winds. Temperatures will dip slightly, with highs between 64°F and 72°F.

Residents in Bloomington, Muncie, and Richmond should prepare for a wetter commute Thursday morning, while those in Terre Haute and Lafayette may see rain by mid-afternoon. If traveling, allow extra time and watch for slick roads. Consider charging devices and securing outdoor items in case of gusty winds during storms.

Dry and sunny conditions return Friday, with cooler highs in the upper 60s across most of the state. More updates are expected as Thursday’s storm chances develop.
