Fort Wayne, IN – Residents in northern Indiana should prepare for cold temperatures and light snow as lake effect snow showers persist into the week. With highs hovering in the mid-20s and lows dropping to the teens, wind chills will make conditions feel even colder.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow is expected today and tonight, with the chance of lake effect snow increasing on Tuesday evening into Wednesday. Snow accumulations are expected to remain light, but slick roadways could pose a hazard for drivers during the morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds up to 25 mph will lower visibility and bring wind chills to the single digits.

On Tuesday, mostly cloudy skies will keep temperatures between 26°F and 30°F during the day. Tuesday night will see lows of 11°F to 15°F, with a slight chance of lake effect snow showers developing late. Wednesday brings the best chance of more widespread snow, particularly in northwest Indiana, with highs in the low 20s.

Looking ahead, Thursday and Friday are expected to remain cold, with highs in the 20s and partly sunny skies. Travelers and residents are advised to monitor road conditions and dress appropriately to avoid frostbite risks.
