Indianapolis, Indiana – Snow continued to blanket much of Indiana Sunday afternoon, keeping roads slick and setting up a difficult and potentially hazardous commute for early Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 a.m. Monday for large portions of central, southern, and north-central Indiana. Additional snowfall of up to two inches is expected overnight, enough to keep roads, bridges, and overpasses icy and dangerous.
In central and southern Indiana, communities including Indianapolis, Bloomington, Columbus, Bedford, Vincennes, Seymour, and Greensburg are dealing with snow-covered roads and reduced visibility. Farther north, areas such as Lafayette, Kokomo, Carmel, Anderson, Muncie, and Noblesville are seeing similar conditions as light to moderate snow continues.
Transportation officials warn that even modest additional snowfall can worsen travel conditions overnight as temperatures remain below freezing. Untreated secondary roads and elevated surfaces are expected to be the most hazardous, especially during the Monday morning commute.
Drivers are urged to delay non-essential travel, slow down, and increase following distance if they must be on the roads. Carrying emergency supplies, including food, water, and a flashlight, is strongly recommended.
Snow is expected to taper off toward daybreak Monday, but slick spots may linger beyond the warning expiration. Officials caution that road conditions could remain hazardous even after snowfall ends, and additional advisories may follow if impacts persist.
