Fort Wayne, Indiana – Scattered storms may return to parts of Indiana late Thursday morning, bringing strong wind gusts and a low risk of isolated severe weather across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, showers and thunderstorms that diminished earlier Thursday are expected to redevelop by early afternoon. The greatest chance for stronger storms will be between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. EDT, particularly across northeastern Indiana and far northwestern Ohio where a Slight Risk for severe weather remains in place. While confidence in severe impacts is low, isolated storms could produce wind gusts over 50 mph and hail up to 1 inch in diameter.

Windy conditions will persist throughout the day, with widespread gusts between 30 and 35 mph across cities like Fort Wayne, South Bend, and Angola. Drivers should use caution on open roads, especially in high-profile vehicles. Tonight, scattered storms may continue before tapering off, with lows dipping into the upper 40s.

Residents in counties near the Indiana–Ohio border should remain weather-aware through the evening, charge mobile devices, and secure outdoor items. The risk of storms decreases Friday, with only a 20–30% chance of showers under partly sunny skies.

Additional updates may be issued later today as conditions evolve.
