A mix of snow and rain is set to impact northern Indiana on Friday, potentially causing slick roads, especially north of US 30. By the weekend, temperatures will rise, bringing sunshine and a noticeable warm-up.

According to the National Weather Service, snow is expected to begin Friday morning before transitioning into a rain-snow mix by the afternoon. With temperatures reaching a high of 38°F, accumulation is expected to be less than half an inch. By Friday night, additional light snowfall is possible, with lows dipping to 23°F.

Drivers should prepare for reduced visibility and possible icy conditions, particularly on highways like US 30. Winds from the north at 5 mph may contribute to brief periods of hazardous travel.

Saturday will bring a shift in conditions, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 39°F. Overnight lows will remain chilly, around 28°F. By Sunday, temperatures will climb to 48°F under sunny skies, setting the stage for an even warmer start to next week.

Looking ahead, Monday’s high will reach 59°F, with mostly sunny conditions. By Tuesday, temperatures will approach the mid-60s, marking a significant warm-up for the region.

Residents should plan accordingly for Friday’s snow but can look forward to a much milder stretch of weather in the days ahead.
