Indianapolis, IN – Dry and cool conditions will prevail through Thursday morning, but snow is expected to impact Indiana roads Thursday night into Friday morning. Residents should prepare for travel disruptions, with slippery conditions likely as temperatures hover near freezing.
According to the National Weather Service, light snow may begin after midnight Thursday, increasing in intensity during early Friday morning. Gusty northwest winds of up to 24 mph will accompany the snow, further reducing visibility. The combination of freezing temperatures and accumulating snow could lead to hazardous road conditions, particularly on highways and less-traveled routes.
By Friday afternoon, snow showers are expected to taper off, but cloud cover and chilly weather will persist. Friday’s high will reach only 35°F, with overnight lows dipping to 23°F. Drivers are encouraged to check road conditions frequently and plan for extra time during their morning commute.
Looking into the weekend, conditions will improve slightly. Saturday is expected to be partly sunny with highs near 32°F and lighter winds. Saturday night will remain cold, with a low of 20°F. Sunday will bring clear skies and sunshine, but temperatures will remain cool, topping out at 32°F.
By early next week, a warm-up may occur, with rain showers possible Monday afternoon.
Residents should stay informed of updated forecasts and road closures as conditions evolve. Travelers are advised to monitor weather alerts closely and ensure vehicles are winter-ready for snow and ice.
