Indianapolis, IN – Rain will move into central Indiana Wednesday afternoon, followed by possible thunderstorms in the evening and a chance of snow this weekend. Residents should prepare for wet and windy conditions midweek and potential travel disruptions Friday night into Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected to begin after 1 p.m. Wednesday, with a high near 38°F and east winds at 6 to 9 mph. Thunderstorms are possible between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m., with heavier rainfall in some areas. By early Thursday morning, precipitation should taper off, though roads may still be slick.
Thursday and Friday will be mostly dry, with highs in the upper 30s. However, a new system moves in Friday night, bringing a 30% chance of snow and increased wind gusts. Saturday’s forecast calls for an 80% chance of rain, with wind gusts up to 25 mph.
With shifting temperatures, precipitation could change between rain and snow. Motorists should monitor forecasts and drive cautiously, especially on major roads like I-70 and I-65.
