Indianapolis, Indiana – Drivers across Indiana should brace for reduced visibility overnight as patchy fog develops alongside scattered showers, with heavier rain and thunderstorms expected by late Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, isolated rain showers are possible throughout Wednesday evening. Overnight lows will dip into the low-to-mid 50s, with fog most likely forming between 2 and 6 a.m. Thursday, potentially impacting morning commuters in Marion, Hendricks, and Johnson counties.

Thursday will see warmer temperatures, ranging from 70 to 77 degrees, and increasing cloud cover. By late afternoon into the evening, a line of stronger storms could develop, bringing the threat of localized heavy rainfall, especially in southern and central Indiana. The agency warns that ponding on roads and brief gusty winds may accompany the downpours.

Residents are advised to allow extra time for morning travel due to fog and to secure outdoor items ahead of potential storms Thursday evening. Drivers should use low-beam headlights in foggy conditions and avoid flooded roadways.

The chance for rain and storms will persist into Thursday night, with lows in the mid-50s. Additional weather statements or advisories may be issued if the storm system intensifies.
