Indianapolis, IN – Central Indiana will see heavy rain and thunderstorms Friday as a storm system moves through the region. Rain will begin early Friday, with the heaviest showers expected in the evening. Some areas could see up to 1.25 inches of rain, with isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm will taper off late Friday night, bringing drier but cooler conditions Saturday. Highs will drop from the mid-50s Friday to the low 40s Saturday. Winds could reach 20 mph at times, especially during Friday’s storms.
The weekend will remain mostly dry, with partly cloudy skies Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures will warm slightly Sunday, reaching the upper 50s before another cooling trend Monday.
Drivers should be prepared for wet roads and reduced visibility Friday, especially during evening commutes. Avoid flooded roadways and allow extra travel time.
Looking ahead, temperatures will remain near normal for early February, with highs in the mid-40s and low-50s next week.
