Southern Indiana – Residents along I-65 should brace for snow flurries and dangerously cold conditions beginning today. Temperatures will peak in the low 20s, with near-zero wind chills expected in the early morning hours Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, a slight chance of snow is forecast between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. today. While accumulation is expected to stay below an inch, untreated roadways, including stretches of I-65, may become slick. Wind gusts up to 20 mph will make conditions feel even colder, so caution is advised for drivers.

Wednesday morning will bring single-digit temperatures, with wind chills potentially dropping below zero in some areas. Areas in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky could face similar conditions. Calm winds will begin shifting to a southwesterly breeze by Thursday, offering slight relief.

The five-day outlook shows improvement later in the week. Wednesday will stay cold, with highs reaching only 25°F. By Thursday, sunny skies and temperatures near 38°F are expected. Friday will warm further to 46°F, although rain showers are likely late that evening and into Saturday.

Residents are urged to bundle up, limit outdoor exposure, and check on vulnerable neighbors or pets during this cold snap. Motorists should keep an emergency kit in their vehicles and stay informed of any developing road conditions.
